My thoughts are how in the world are they going to raise prices and expect anyone to keep buyer. Surely the automakers are paying attention to the economy and they must notice that every month more and more people are being laid off of their jobs. How are these individuals going to keep buying cars at a rate that will continue to make the automakers profitable?

If no one was buying cars in December when their prices were low, how do you expect to raise them and make more sales. I get the margin per sale, but if total sales are down dramatically, then this is useless.

I am going to go with the automakers are just talking trash trying to get people to buy more now and they are not actually going to raise prices, but they will lower them if anything.

Ohh god. How do they expect people to buy @ current economic problems. Or did I missed something here?

@Freddie : I understand your concern. The car sale is already down and with a raise in the cost, it may get even worse. The rumor may be an attempt to increase car sale but there are speculations of a raise in car rates from next year onwards. Time will only clear these clouds.. lets see what the coming new year hold for us !

@W.T. Master : There is an expected increase in Car prices even under such economic conditions. And you didn't miss out anything. The news may be an attempt to increase the present car sale.. who knows ? .. lets wait and watch

Yep, that was to be expected as profits are dropping and car sales on the drop as well...!
I just bought a new car this summer so I'm all fine for at least another 5 years :)
